Frequently Asked Questions
Who wrote these toolbox talks?
These toolbox talks were written by our founder, Curtis Chambers, MS-OSH, CSP. Curtis is a board-certified safety professional with a master’s degree in occupational safety and health and more than 40 years of experience in the field. The Spanish edition presents his talks translated in Spanish. Read more about Curtis on our About Us page.
Do these paid packets replace the free OSHA toolbox talks I used to be able to download?
No. Our free OSHA toolbox talks remain available to download individually in English. We are simply offering the paid packets available on this page as an option for those wanting a collection of all our talks in a single organized down-loadable PDF, as well as for those wanting the option of a matched Spanish edition of the toolbox talks.
How will I receive my packet?
After checkout, you’ll see a download page for immediate use. You will also receive an email at the address you provide from SendOwl with a link that can be clicked to download your packet up to 10 separate times. Save the PDF to your computer or to private company storage accessible to authorized personnel at the licensed location. Give it a filename you’ll recognize, such as OSHA-Training-Toolbox-Talks-English.pdf.
Can I open my saved PDF as often as I need?
Yes. You can open and use the copy you saved for the licensed location’s authorized training as often as you’d like. The limit of 10 downloads applies to the file from the SendOwl purchase link, not to opening a copy you have already saved.
I lost my order email. How can I get my download link again?
Use the Recover My Download link page and enter the email address you used at checkout. SendOwl will resend your order email and download-page link. This does not restart your 10-download allowance. If you have used all your downloads or need help, email info@oshatraining.com.
May I print either the entire packet or individual talks, handouts, and sign-in sheets?
Yes. You may print your entire packet, or just the individual toolbox talks, handouts, and sign-in sheets you wish to use as reasonably needed for internal training at the licensed operating location. You may also invite subcontractor employees to attend a toolbox talk your licensed location conducts at a temporary job-site you manage. When printing, keep the publication’s content, branding, and attribution intact.
Does one purchase cover every branch of our company?
No. Each separately operated office, branch, store, regional division, or similar location purchases its own licensed packet, even when all the locations have the same corporate owner. If you need to cover many locations, contact us to discuss a corporate or enterprise arrangement that identifies the locations it covers.
We are a construction company with crews at several job-sites. Do we need a purchase for every job-site?
No, if those crews are assigned to and managed from one licensed operating location. One purchase covers that location’s internal training at the temporary job-sites it serves. A separately operated branch needs to purchase its own packet.
Can subcontractor employees attend a toolbox talk we conduct at a job-site?
Yes. Your licensed location may include subcontractor employees in a toolbox talk it conducts at a temporary job-site it manages. You may also give attendees the individual handout used in that meeting. You may not give the subcontractor the PDF packet or individual talks for its own use. A subcontractor that wants to use the packet to conduct separate meetings must purchase its own packet for its operating location.
Can we place the PDF on our company’s internal system?
Yes, if access is limited to authorized personnel of the licensed location and the materials are used only for that location’s internal training. A company-wide system that gives other branches access to the packet is outside the standard one-location purchase.
Can an outside safety consultant conduct a toolbox talk for our employees using our packet?
Yes. A consultant working on behalf of the licensed location may use the client packet to conduct training for that client location’s personnel. The consultant may not keep or reuse the packet for other clients or distribute it to other organizations.
Can a union or trade association share one packet with its members?
The standard purchase covers one designated operating location for its own internal training. It does not permit giving the PDF packet to independent member companies, union locals, or other employers for their own use. Contact us before purchasing if you need an arrangement that covers multiple organizations or locations.
Does the English and Spanish combo cover two different locations?
No. The combo includes two separate PDF packets, one in each language, for the same licensed operating location. Another separately operated location purchases its own packets or is covered under a separate corporate arrangement.
Do these toolbox talks replace OSHA training required for a particular job or hazard?
No. Toolbox talks can supplement required OSHA training, but the employer must still determine what training its employees need for their work and provide any additional instruction required for the hazards, equipment, and procedures involved.
Toolbox Talk Packet Licensing Terms
Purchase of this publication grants the original purchaser a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to reproduce and use these materials solely for internal, noncommercial workplace safety training conducted by or for one designated operating location of the purchaser (the “licensed location”). This includes that location’s employees and other personnel under its supervision when they work at temporary job-sites served and managed by the licensed location. Those temporary job-sites do not require separate licenses. Subcontractor employees working at those temporary job-sites may attend toolbox talks conducted by the licensed location and receive handouts distributed as part of those meetings. This does not authorize a subcontractor to use the packet to conduct its own meetings; a subcontractor that wants to do so must purchase its own packet for its operating location. Each separately operated office, branch, regional division, store, or similar operating unit requires its own license, even when owned by the same company. Individual toolbox talks, handouts, and sign-in sheets may be printed or posted as reasonably necessary for this authorized training. When printing or posting, keep the publication’s content, branding, and attribution intact.
Without prior written permission from OSHA Training Services Inc., this publication or any portion of it may not be sold, resold, sub-licensed, redistributed, shared with another operating location or organization, incorporated into another product or service, or posted or uploaded to any public or restricted-access website, social-media platform, file-sharing service, learning-management system, or document repository. The exception is individual talks or handouts distributed to attendees during authorized toolbox talk meetings conducted by the licensed location, as described above. Use on a private internal system is permitted only when access is limited to the licensed location’s personnel and the materials are used solely for its authorized in-house training.
Questions About Your Purchase or Multiple Locations?
If you are purchasing for several separately operated locations, or for a trade union, trade association, or other enterprise, contact us to discuss a corporate or enterprise arrangement before ordering.
