OSHA Training Requirements and Resources for Glendale AZ
The State of Arizona operates an approved State OSHA Program (ADOSH), and that agency oversees OSHA training in Glendale AZ at most workplaces. Initial approval of the Arizona State Plan was published on November 5, 1974, and final approval for the State Plan program was published on June 20, 1985.
AZ OSHA Training Regulations and Standards
Arizona adopts federal OSHA standards by reference and enforces OSHA standards contained within 29 CFR, parts 1910 (General Industry), 1926 (Construction) and 1928 (Agriculture). OSHA 10 and 30-hour training is recommended for workers in these industries.
In addition, there are a few requirements that are unique to Arizona, including prohibition on the use of the short-handled hoe in agriculture work and the use of PVC pipe to transport compressed gasses, including air. Information on Arizona’s standards and regulations are available at the ADOSH website.
Also, the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) has implemented a State Emphasis Program (SEP) focusing on heat-related hazards. This program emphasizes employers understand the importance of water, rest, shade, acclimatization, and heat illness prevention training for affected workers so they can recognize signs and symptoms of heat stress.

Additional Special Safety Training Consideration for Exposed Workers in Glendale AZ
Workers in industries such as oil and gas, storm or wastewater management, mining, and agriculture must be aware of the dangers of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), a highly toxic gas commonly found in drilling sites, refineries, chemical plants, manure pits, grain elevators, sewers, and underground utility spaces. Without proper precautions, exposure can quickly become fatal. H2S Hazard Awareness Training helps ensure workers can identify H2S hazards, understand the importance of gas detection equipment, and follow emergency procedures to stay safe in high-risk environments.
Jurisdiction
The Arizona State Plan applies to all public and private sector places of employment in Glendale and the rest of the state of AZ, with the exception of Federal employees, the United States Postal Service (USPS), private sector maritime, employment on Indian Lands, areas of exclusive Federal jurisdiction; copper smelters, and concrete and asphalt batch plants that are physically located within mine property, which are subject to Federal jurisdiction.
