Online OSHA 10 and 30-hour Training Courses Accepted in California

As mentioned earlier, we offer several OSHA-authorized online 10 and 30-hour training courses available for construction and general industry. However, you must pay close attention, as only those course providers that are specifically authorized to provide these courses can issue trainees the official DOL / OSHA 10 or 30-hour wallet cards. There are plenty of imitators out there who use deceptive fine print and “too good to be true” pricing to sell you a course that is not OSHA authorized. You can rest assured that the 10 and 30-hour online OSHA training courses offered on our website are authorized by OSHA, and are accepted in California as well as all other states and US territories.

CA OSHA Training Regulations and Standards

The State of California, under an agreement with Federal OSHA, operates an approved State Plan OSHA Program, commonly known as Cal-OSHA. That agency is the primary regulator of OSHA training in the state of California. Initial approval of the California State Plan was published on May 1, 1973, and certification for completing all developmental steps was received on August 19, 1977.

Health and safety standards in the State of California are significantly different than those of Federal OSHA. The Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board is a standard setting agency within the Cal-OSHA program, which includes development and maintenance of standards for certain areas not covered by federal standards or enforcement. These latter standards apply to elevators, aerial passenger tramways, amusement rides, pressure vessels, and mine safety training.

Also, be aware that California A.B. 1775 requires certain contractors and subcontractors to ensure their workers employed in setting up, tearing down and operating live events at public entertainment venues owned by the State of California or any county within the state must complete an OSHA 10 or 30-hour training course (course required depends on job title). Training must be provided by an OSHA-authorized Outreach trainer, or taken via an OSHA authorized online 10-hour or 30-hour course.

Cal-OSHA health and safety standards (also known as safety orders under Title 8) are available on the California DOL website.

Jurisdiction

The California State Plan applies to all public and private sector places of employment in the state, with the exception of Federal employees, the United States Postal Service (USPS), private sector employers on Native American lands, maritime activities on the navigable waterways of the United States, private contractors working on land designated as exclusive Federal jurisdiction, and employers that require Federal security clearances.
